You Can Make a Difference - Northern California Senior Portraits

Making a Difference

This year we are giving away a full senior package to one deserving senior. We mean full, as in everything; from session fees to prints, wallets, 411 cards, announcements ~ over $1,000 worth of services and products to be exact. Here’s where you can help…

We want you to nominate a 2012 senior who you feel is a deserving candidate for the senor portrait experience of a lifetime. We just want you to tell us why this senior is deserving and why they should be chosen as this year’s “Make a Difference” winner.

Maybe you can make a difference in a senior’s life by nominating someone who simply can’t afford senior portraits but who works tirelessly to help their family make ends meet. Maybe it’s someone who’s recently experienced a tragedy or someone who’s faced hardships throughout their life. Maybe it’s a senior who makes a difference in their community by selflessly donating their time and energy to worthy causes.

Here are the rules: (1) You cannot nominate yourself, (2) The nominee must reside in Nor Cal and be a senior who is graduating in 2012, (3) We need the truth and nothing but the truth! (4) We want the whole story, and (5) The deadline for submission is November 15, 2011.

Oh, and another perk? The person who nominates the winner receives a $250 studio credit. What better reason to make a difference in someone’s life?!

Please e-mail me directly at rose@rose-photography.com and include the following:

(1) Your name and contact information, (2) The name and contact information for your nominee , and (3) Their story and why they should be chosen as the “Make a Difference” winner.

Together we can Make a Difference

Beth & Joe & Julianna | Napa Maternity Portraits

After a super fun engagement session in Napa and an incredible wedding in Lake Tahoe, I was honored to also photograph their maternity session. It was another great time! Man, I really love working with you two and cannot wait to meet Julianna!

Here's your little sneak peek, Beth. It's one of the first images we captured and I really don't think I could have chosen a better one. I love its sweetness and simplicity and of course I remember how comical this balancing act was! Ha, ha, ha. Joe, you are just too cool for school.

Facebook was being too persnickety tonight and would not let me upload this photo. I'll get it up there soon, I promise.

See you two next week for your preview session. I'm looking forward to showing off these photos! :p

Natalie's Twelve!

Mid-day photo session at the Arboretum. What a beautiful young lady Natalie is becoming! I have been photographing her for about the last seven years, and have loved watching her mature.

I think you'll love all your images, Nat, can't wait for you to see them. Jennifer, thanks for taking care of my baby while I photographed yours!

This Moment

A new regular blog feature (inspired by a couple of Waldorf focused blogs I follow), I think it's a great idea to celebrate these little moments in our lives.

One little moment from my week that I am in love with. A moment I am grateful was caught on film. A moment I embraced, discovered and felt connected.

Thank you Lisa Jurado and Erin Losado for capturing this moment for me.

Sammy's Maternity Portrait Session | Fairfield CA Maternity Portraits

Sammy came in to the studio last week for her maternity session. Her and her husband reside at Travis AFB with their son. Sammy hadn't done a maternity session the first time around and knew she definitely wanted to document this pregnancy for the second and last child, a daughter. She was so beautiful and definitely glowing with happiness. They will welcome their bundle of joy later this month!

Maddex Eight Month Portraits | Baby Portraits Vacaville

This little bugger is so darn adorable! Always so happy, he did great at his session again! We did a cowboy theme for his little overalls and a beach theme because of his cute little bathing suit. He rocked them both! I cannot wait for his one year session.

Amber and John's Wedding | Northern California Wedding Photography

Ryan and I teamed up again to photograph Amber and John's wedding this past weekend here in Dixon.  The ceremony and reception were held at the private residence of the Fanning family.

We started with the girls getting ready, the all important details that go into the process:

Amber and John did their first look at the Davis Arboretum where we met with immediate family members for some photos prior to the ceremony.   Here are our lovely bride and handsome groom:

The ceremony:

was held poolside:

Reception details, love this moment shared during their first dance:

Congratulations Amber and John!  It was a wonderful day sure to be followed by a wonderful life together.  I hope you are enjoying the Bahamas.

Looking for something fun to do this summmer? | Sacramento Sidetracks = Resource for Family and Child Activities In and Around Sacramento

Recently a client of mine shared a great resource with me for finding fun family and child activities.

Sacramento Sidetracks is a site that contains great information about places offering different activities that are family and kid friendly. It is updated often with alerts on specials and discounts that are available. It is maintained by a Sacramento mom with three children, Keilah Woodard.

She describes the site as, "YOUR ONE-STOP RESOURCE * Fun places to go with kids * Indoor & Outdoor Outings * Upcoming Events Calendar * Birthday Party Ideas * FREE things to do * Reviews of our experiences"

The website address is: www.sacramentosidetracks.com

and if you are on Facebook, the page is: http://www.facebook.com/SacramentoSidetracks

Thank you Nikki for sharing this with us, I have put it to good use several times already.

We learned about this water spray park located in West Sacramento which is only about 25 minutes from Dixon. We spent about an hour there one evening and had a great time. These are some photos from my iPhone:

We also learned about Funtastic Play Center located in Natomas about a 1/2 hour or so from Dixon. Bailey and Ashlyn had a good time there playing in the air conditioning for a couple hours one hot afternoon.

Both places were clean, well-maintained and were not crowded.  I would recommend both of them. I would also recommend checking out Sacramento Sidetracks website and FaceBook page for listings of more fun stuff.

Makayla's One Year Portrait Session | Baby First Year Portrait Plan

Happy Birthday Makayla! We completed Makayla's First Year of Portraits last week with her one year session.

A family portrait:

Look how much she has grown, a portrait from her newborn session:

Just learning how to walk:

A super cute birthday outfit:

We did do a cake grub and she really got into it but we're saving those images for display at her birthday party.

Maddex's Four Month Portrait Session | Vacaville Baby Portraits

Ahhhh this cuddly little baby.....don't you just want to snuggle with him?  He was so sweet and happy during our session and looked just adorable.  I sure had many great images to choose from but wanted to post these first five because I thought they would look fabulous printed as 10x10s and hung in a wall cluster with simple black frames.

One of my other favorites is this 11x14 art piece.  I think he was so much like his little snuggly teddy.

Yesica's Maternity Portrait Session | Vacaville Maternity Photography

What a beautiful glowing mama-to-be Yesica is.  Baby Niko will be here soon and then the real fun begins.

A great idea is to choose one of the images from your maternity session to use with a sign mat for all the guests at your baby shower to sign for you. Yesica chose this image for hers.

Khloe's Newborn Portrait Session | Dixon Portrait Photographer

One more beautiful baby from the past week.

Who doesn't just adore the sweet smell of a baby, especially a newborn. Little Khloe was 11 days old when I met her in the studio.

We took some wonderful images of her sleeping. She tolerated us moving her around quite a bit as you can see.

She was awake for part of the session and I just loved this one of her sticking her tongue out at mommy.

Bryson's Three Month Portrait Session | Dixon Baby Portrait Photographer

Another beautiful baby from this past week. Ryan Greenleaf and I photographed his parents wedding in July of 2008. I was so excited to meet their first child. Meet little Bryson. Such a little chunky monkey you would not know by looking at him now that he was born five weeks premature and only weighed four pounds.

Check out his little natural mohawk. So cute!

A cuddle image with mommy and daddy. I love how he's looking right at me.

A snuggly basket after eating and he almost fell asleep.

Zoe's Six Month Portrait Session | Dixon Portrait Photography

Beautiful baby number two! This is Zoe's second session from her baby plan, her six month portrait. Zoe's mom wanted to showcase this adorable little outfit which went great with my new orange and pink background and Zoe's favorite little friend, none other than Sophie the Giraffe.  Zoe was just as sweet and smiley this time as she was three months ago.

Casey Felix Newborn Portrait Session | Dixon Newborn Portrait Photographer

I was so excited to photograph little Casey as I had photographed his parents wedding.  He is their first little bundle of joy and was just oh so sweet.  I did not want to put him down when we were finished with his session, which he did absolutely awesome at, by the way. Congratulations Jolene and John!

We started with a baseball theme.

Moved on to a little bit of mommy.

Then a little bit of daddy. I absolutely adore this shot.

And finished with a little bit of sleepy time.

Some adorable little baby bits!

I can't wait until the next time I get to snuggle with this little bean!!
