Making a Difference

This year we are giving away a full senior package to one deserving senior. We mean full, as in everything; from session fees to prints, wallets, 411 cards, announcements ~ over $1,000 worth of services and products to be exact. Here’s where you can help…

We want you to nominate a 2012 senior who you feel is a deserving candidate for the senor portrait experience of a lifetime. We just want you to tell us why this senior is deserving and why they should be chosen as this year’s “Make a Difference” winner.

Maybe you can make a difference in a senior’s life by nominating someone who simply can’t afford senior portraits but who works tirelessly to help their family make ends meet. Maybe it’s someone who’s recently experienced a tragedy or someone who’s faced hardships throughout their life. Maybe it’s a senior who makes a difference in their community by selflessly donating their time and energy to worthy causes.

Here are the rules: (1) You cannot nominate yourself, (2) The nominee must reside in Nor Cal and be a senior who is graduating in 2012, (3) We need the truth and nothing but the truth! (4) We want the whole story, and (5) The deadline for submission is November 15, 2011.

Oh, and another perk? The person who nominates the winner receives a $250 studio credit. What better reason to make a difference in someone’s life?!

Nathan's Senior Portrait Session - Dixon California

We had one session already in downtown Vacaville but wanted to do another session in studio with some firefighter gear because Nathan was a cadet with the Dixon Fire Department. This was my favorite image from the studio session.

Tiffany's Lincoln High School Senior Portraits

We photographed Tiffany's senior session all over the city of Lincoln. We started in their beautifully landscaped tropical paradise backyard so we could have Sugar in some shots. Here she is shaking hands. It took a while for her to warm up to the photo process but she did great and in the end we had some fabulous images.



Next stop was a playground at Tiff's old elementary school.

Then off to a waterfall that wasn't "falling" so we made the best of the surrounding area.



Of course we had to get some of Tiffany showing off her black belt karate skills.

Next to the high school football field for the cheer portraits.


Last but not least, the railroad tracks in downtown Lincoln.

We had a wonderful time working with you Tiffany and a big thanks to Ryan (Tiff's boyfriend) for being my lighting assistant!

Anthony G. Senior Portraits - Vacaville California

I photographed Anthony's senior session in April before I had Ashlyn and am happy to now be posting his mom, Cristi's, favorites from the session.

We walked around Andrew's Park in Vacaville along with Anthony's Grandma, two aunts, mom, three cousins, and one of his cousin's friends. Not many boys would be happy with this kind of audience at a photo session but he did just fine. I was happy to have all the help with my gear because it was only several weeks before Ashlyn's due date and I was a little big and awkward.

Michael Hendrix Senior Session Dixon California

I went out to the Hendrix ranch last week to photograph Michael's senior session. It was a lot of fun to use their surroundings as props. In addition to living on site, Michael also works for the Hendrix Hay Co. so we took some photos in one of the hay barns and used a combine and a truck for some images.




I have always loved the road with the bridge leading up to the ranch so we had to do a photo there of course. I think Michael was a real natural in front of the camera. It also helped that his grandma, Ginni, came along to act goofy behind me to get some smiles. (Thanks, Ginni!)


One request from mom, Jill, was a few photos of Michael with his truck so we took off to the middle of one of their hay fields.

Devan Bobbitt's Senior Portrait Session

I have known Lynn, Devan's mom, for about five years now through the Dixon Chamber. Lynn has been talking to me about doing Devan's senior portraits for about three of those five years. Well, it was finally time; Devan is graduating Dixon High School this year. We had a great time in the studio and at Northwest Park. We'll be designing some great graduation announcements with the images. Some of my favorites......

Keylee Jacob's Senior Session at The Ranch in Dixon

Hello!!! my name is D.J. and I am Rose's Husband (I can not say better half, for those of you who know Rose, she is a tough act to top!) I went to this session with Rose out on a farm - If you want to remember how America was built - spend some time on a farm with people who know how to work it!!! It was a beautiful day and as we drove down the dirt road to the location - we were surrounded with beautiful trees and pastures full of livestock on one side and a field being prepared for planting on the other, the sights and sounds reminded me of home. After we got to the location Rose was drawn to the horses as she has owned some in the past and absolutely LOVES Animals!!!!!!

We were greeted by the family and I could not help but notice our subject to be photographed (Keylee) was working on her steer calf. We started the shoot discussing the lighting and backgrounds and Rose getting her plan of attack ...... soon we were heading down the road ....calf in hand..... shooting away!

The entire shoot went amazing as this entire family is a hard working American family and we were in there realm. I have had the pleasure of meeting Kevin and Becky before and both of there girls Keylee and Kassie are strong and beautiful people. about 1/2 way through the shoot Kevin asks Rose if she wants to ride one of the horses.... that was a question even a newbie like myself could have answered for her.... YES! and away they went.... then Kevin puts Rose on his other Horse and a few moments later from behind the barn I hear Rose calling for me.... SO EXCITED!!!!! she wants to show me a trick Kevin showed her on his horse..... so she gallops in a circle and picks up some speed.... then .... pulls back on the bit and the horse skids to a stop!!!! it was awesome..... it had been some time since she had last ridden but she looked so at home up there in the saddle...then she decides to try again....... builds up speed....pulls back and .... OOOOOPS her foot slips out of the stirrup and she is sliding off the horse.... BUT!!!!! the horse stops.... she gets a little help to put her foot back in and she is good to go!

As we concluded the session everyone is getting hungry so we decided to go to Chevy's resteraunt for some cold drinks and great food with a great group of friends. Thank you Kevin and family for dinner and a great time, as you can see your session turned out amazing!!!

Keylee Jacobs Senior Session

The first of several planned sessions for Keylee was at the Davis Arboretum. Keylee has a ummm, I guess we could call it a purse fetish....

So pretty,

she looks like a model, when did she grow up?!

With mom, Becky, who will say she is going to kill me for putting a photo of her on here. I know better though because she has two daughters getting married someday. :)

Madeleine's Senior Portraits

Madeleine, Mary, her mother, and I headed to downtown Vacaville and Andrews Park for Madeleine's senior portrait session.

Nichole's Senior Session

I was back in downtown Vacaville and Andrews Park on Tuesday for Nichole's Senior Session. Nichole and her mom, Karen, came down from Benicia after having to reschedule once for bad weather. The wind was a little worrisome but it ended up working out great.

Bailey came along on our session as well so we had to add her to some shots. Karen plans on having each of kids photographed with Bailey during their senior sessions.


I love the way her dress and boots blended so well with the scenery.

We couldn't pass up these gorgeous blooms downtown.

Wyatt's Senior Pictures

Tonight Rose and I headed to Vacaville to shoot Wyatt's senior pictures! We saw our friend Ryan Bates and told him we were going to use "his alley" for some shots because Rose and I couldn't pass up the opportunities! :) The first two images are from the alley and the last two are taken at the park. Wyatt was such a good sport and we wish him the best of luck!

Hillary's Senior Portraits

Hillary is graduating from Dixon High this year. We went to her grandmother, Katie's, house in Winters. This is the third time I've been out here, the first for a wedding reception I photographed several years ago, then Hillary's aunt, Karlie's, engagement session. I sure wish I had all this in my backyard....

I love all the foliage around the lake, but not so much all the land mines left by the geese.




Thanks to my godson, Brandon, for being my lighting assistant today. Brandon may be my next assistant in training - he had some great ideas inspired by Americas Next Top Model.
